Mr. Shafer has over 35 years of experience and has been a working principal at L&S Engineering Associates since 1982. Dale has earned the prestigious High-Performance Building Design Professional Certification from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers. ASHRAE's certification program identifies indivuduals who have demonstrated they have the training and tools for the design of high performance buildings that live up to their performance cabability.
In recognition of his technical expertise, Dale participated in two code revision processes for the State of Washington. One revision provides an alternate method of providing combustion air to residential furnaces, and the other reviews the Inland Northwest Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Association's HVAC Standards book. He was appointed to the Washington State Building Code Council, which adopts and interprets the State's Building Codes, and was Chairman of the Council's Mechanical and Ventilation Technical Advisory Group. He actively pursues energy conservation through efficient, straight forward mechanical designs. Dale designed resource protecting HVAC systems in the Saranac Building modernization project in downtown Spokane, the project was certified LEED Platinum, the highest standard of LEED certification.
