Black Hall, Central Washington University

Commissioning Agent for the renovation and addition to a major 112, 800 sq. ft education department classroom building. Detailed commissioning of the full mechanical and electrical systems as well as selected commissioning of the General Construction. The general commissioning was limited to the elevators and the door hardware. Mechanical systems commissioned included: Central VAV air handling unit with VAV terminal units, air distribution systems, plumbing and piping systems, air and water balance, DDC controls systems. Electrical commissioning included: power distribution, extensive data systems, fire alarms systems, phone systems, lighting and controls.


Whitman College Science Building, Walla Walla, Washington

The 105,000 square-foot Hall of Science underwent a $20 million renovation and expansion in 2003. The facility now features state-of-the-art faculty/student research labs, enhanced classroom space, and a building-wide wireless network for Internet access. Some of the research equipment and facilities available include a scanning electron microscope, planetarium, biochemistry laboratory and greenhouse, as well as, several large telescopes on the roof and instrumentation rooms where students have access to modern scientific equipment.

Mechanical and Electrical Systems Commissioning of this multi-story facility modernization:

Air distribution systems including: supply air, outside air; for ventilation, return air, exhaust air systems; and HVAC pumping systems. Controls Systems, including controls for individual items of equipment, controls for individual systems, and controls for the interaction between systems.


Boise State University, West Campus Academic Building, Nampa Idaho

Description: This new academic facility is 65,500 sf, housing 14 classrooms; two distance learning classrooms, lab prep rooms for chemistry, biology, and physics; three teaching labs; a computer lab; offices for faculty, student services, and administration; a branch library, conference rooms, bookstore and study lounges. The building will accommodate classes in math, English, anthropology, biology, chemistry, and physics. L&S was involved from the early design phase for this project, writing specifications and guidelines for the commissioning process. Electrical and Mechanical systems were commissioned: boilers, chillers, air distribution systems, motors, variable speed drives, access security, electronic door holders, fire alarm, exit lighting and DDC control links to the main campus control center.
